The Route
OVERLANDING through present day Africa requires a degree of flexibility. Severe flooding can block the only road through a section of the continent and civil war can close a country’s national borders; hence the route is never very direct. The red line below represents the track we drove south in 2004. The first weeks were VERY cold. It took seven months to cross the continent, top to bottom. The green line represents our travels around Southern Africa in 2006; documented under the heading ‘New Reports’ on this site. The green line represents our travels around Southern Africa in 2006; also documented under ARCHIVED REPORTS on this site. The dotted green line is the ferry route that the Buggy took to North America. Adventures from the Americas can also be found under ARCHIVED REPORTS. In 2010, after six years on the road, Tom finally settled in Los Angeles (for the moment) and is presently CEO of Radical.FM. Click on any country for details. The information that will be displayed has been compiled by the CIA. We feel it is the most comprehensive single source available. However, it should be bourn in mind that it emanates from a mainstream American perspective. |
